Job Summary

The Retail Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and technical support of fuel station infrastructure and equipment. This includes fuel dispensers, underground storage tanks, piping systems, electrical components, and safety systems. The role supports the safe and reliable functioning of retail fuel stations and ensures compliance with industry standards and environmental regulations.

Job Details

  1. Coordinates and supervises Retail outlets maintenance activities by scheduling work assignments by setting priorities and directing the work of a team of vendors.
  2. Track scheduled work assignments to vendor’s in line with service level provider (SLA) with user departments using the maintenance report log.
  3. Supervise all maintenance works (which include civil, mechanical, electrical and steels works) to ensure the quality of work done is as required.
  4. Ensure updated record of equipment data register at retail outlets and keep track of equipment movement by carrying out quarterly equipment data census.
  5. Supervise installation of new equipment at retail outlets.
  6. Evaluate and verifies vendor performance through the review of work completed assignment and work techniques. 
  7. Liaise with vendor in sourcing for original maintenance materials and spares at competitive prices whilst ensuring that quality of work done is not compromised.
  8. Works in coordination with the station manager and sales department to ensure that retail outlet equipment have the barest minimal downtime.
  9. Keep record of all maintenance activities on equipment and facilities (pumps, generator, canopy, UST, MID, gate, building etc.).

Requirements

Education

  • A degree or its equivalent with a minimum of a 2.2 in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (mandatory)

Experience

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in retail petroleum/fuel station operations or engineering.
  • Familiarity with petroleum equipment (pumps, dispensers, ATGs, USTs, etc.) and relevant industry standards.
  • Working knowledge of safety, health, and environmental (HSE) protocols in petroleum retail environments.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and layouts.
  • Strong project management and contractor supervision skills.
